I am not super happy about how this one turned out myself, but I am super happy that I did create something. I just yesterday watched some reels of cats jumping on counters that were covered with foil… so the inspiration came from there...
The prompts for the weekly sixes are provided by Denise and all the entries can be found at the link-up.
FOIL
Cats seem to really hate this thing…
I wonder if it has something to do
with the sensation of it touching their paws…
As if overloading their senses—
I mean…
it does feel oddly smooth,
slippery,
and crinkly at the same time…
Or perhaps it is the sound it makes once they jump on it…
Jane used to keep it on top of her fridge,
but once she came home and found her tabby with its back arched,
fur looking like spikes,
pupils blown wide…
…on top of the fridge…
It was staring down at the roll sprawled out on the floor—
hissing—
as if the foil itself
was taunting it to jump down
and fight.
