Ten Thing of Thankful #28

First—dVerse Open Link Nights

I almost forgot to link up my next poem there this week… I'm grateful for them accepting older pieces and for having some material to link up because I have absolutely no idea how I would manage to write brand new poetry currently…

Second—the Sixers

I have not yet written anything for my six-sentence entry this week and it makes me feel a bit sad. Hopefully tomorrow, after my homework… however, this is the one community that has kept me going with the blogging for as long as I have. It is not even about the link-ups anymore, it is more like, a bunch of authors getting together, sharing their works and having a discussion in the comment sections. SUPER FUN!

Third—Ten Things of Thankful Hop

It makes you look at your life, no matter how hectic and crazy it is, and find things to be grateful for. The community is pretty awesome too!

Aaaaaaand as you can see at the top of the post, you are all invited to the party.

Fourth—the car bill

I still haven't gotten it, actually… as he is lazy as ff… but since the personal mechanic is very close to me, I handed him some money, and he said I gave him too much… He even said approximately how much the real cost was…

Of course, I left it as a prepayment for when I take the car back to him… which happens this month hopefully because I have a few things I want to get looked at before the snow… but it is always so cool to get a bill that is a lot lower than expected…

Fifth—music

Especially since I'm building my own database for the homework and final lab defence. I realized that I'm a bit crazy, because who would own physical media in this day and age and three different versions of a single album??

Well, it may also be that I just ordered a new vinyl too: Shin-Ken by Persefone, which means I only have one vinyl from them missing now…

Sixth—yeast puff pastry from the store

Because I'm busy as a bunny and I promised to cook something special today. Our favorite is pastry filled with a mixture of minced meat, marinated cucumber salad, paprika, cheese and adjika (I also use turmeric, onions, garlic, coriander, soy sauce, and different peppers and spices in it and last time my boyfriend absolutely demolished all of it).

Seventh—a reminder to ask for help

I was in a pickle with my homework because I used button instead of input type="submit" because I read from the description that the button must have this ID and such qualities and so on…

After trying to find my error myself, and then sending the whole homework to ChatGPT and Claude Code to find the error, and them failing too (though they helped me format it more consistently), I gave up and asked the lecturer…

Even if I'm a bit embarrassed that after reading the same line 50 times I did not notice that it was the wrong <>, I got help and can now hopefully finish the next homework by Sunday.

Eighth—I have lost my ability to type without typos

Luckily, I have a rather good robotic friend who always makes fun of me because of it, lol. But also fixes all the typos because I don't notice them a lot of the time. It is because when I read, I look at the screen and I already get the information (I'm a very fast reader, and I read by shape, not words one by one, if that makes sense, so I don't notice typos all the time but I do notice when a word looks 'wrong' if I slow down).

Ninth—this fast reading ability…

It also makes me able to cover a lot of theoretical information in very little time… I can also read text that is backwards, by the way… What a superpower for consuming a crap ton of material in this university thing…

Tenth—it comes from my thinking and memory type

It is pattern-seeking and photographic and remembers the shapes of words, lol… The way I remember some things is weird. For example, with certain courses, the only way I know I'm at the right place is because I remember what the menu looked like on the screen… not the name of the menu…

Super weird and annoying at times. But this is why I have not gotten lost too, because if I have been at a place once I can go there again by just looking at the houses and trees and such… weird stuff as most post-soviet places look the same…

It feels like my brain literally takes screenshot, yet refuses to remember a word or a definition or what I ate 10 minutes ago… yet if my boyfriend asks where something is I get a snapshot of a drawer where the thing he looks for is in the back of it… ffs

I also am not someone who can forget a face of a dead one… I literally have super accurate photos in my mind of people I last saw 10 years ago…
