It's time to show my weekly grats' again. A blog-hop that is like no other as it's all about finding the good in life and sharing it with the world… it doesn't even have to be very long or elaborate as mine is to raise one's mood...

Seriously though, if you don't wanna write your own... then reading all the entries of other participants is already enough to lift the spirits.

Ten Thing of Thankful #16

First—Six Sentence Café & Bistro

I have already expressed how glad I am to be included in this collaborative world. However, I had serious trouble with coming up with a plot for the story this week and so, I waited until someone else had published theirs and well…

I got my inspiration from a passage from Chris's blog/story for the week:

Then Aurelia said, as she jumped down, “I need to go to the bathroom, I’ll not be long, I promise, it’s just a little problem,” as she rubbed her back as if there was something niggling in her pretty shirt.

Also, Denise's entry made me cackle out loud in my bedroom like a lunatic…

Second—dVerse Poets

I have always been very shy about my poems and now I have been linking them up at dVerse for a while…

Andrew asked me in the comments of this week's entry to the OLN whether I will take part in the live reading, but am sorry… I am a bit scared to read my poetry out loud live…

I also don't like to do it when someone is home. As people know, I have a few songs and spoken poetry/stories… but even my other half has never heard me singing or reading my poetry live. I recorded them all alone while in my bedroom… I tend to stutter and talk very quietly while live too…

I am working on banishing this fear. I am already able to talk in front of a whole class at the university without fainting (which happened in the past), but somehow it has not carried over to my creative work yet…

Third—slow mornings

I have been very slow to wake up these days. I open my eyes and just lie in bed for an hour or two, cuddling my other half or the pillows when alone. Birds are chirping outside and the sun peeks in from the slit in the curtains as I lie there… feels magical…

Then I make coffee and listen to music and start reading.

Fourth—reading

I have not read physical books for a while, which is a pity as they smell great and feel nice to the touch. But I have been reading many cool authors from the blogosphere and consuming a lot of content I would have no idea existed if I wasn't in the blogosphere myself…

The technology of the internet is cool…

Fifth—that we have tools for mechanical editing

I don't know if anyone has noticed how many typos I make while typing comments on the phone…

It used to take me a few hours to edit them out of my creative work, but now the grammar checkers do it very fast. I also found a non-intrusive plugin for grammar in Obsidian that am currently testing (Harper).

My gripe with Grammarly and other similar plugins is that they take my attention away from writing while drafting. I have been using AI as a first pass in my editing process for simple grammar—much more configurable than many plugins and doesn't yell at my ellipses or em-dashes—but I thought I'd give this plugin a chance.

Sixth—music

Am blasting Britney Spears

The fact I can swing between that and some brutal deathcore is what makes music so cool…

Seventh—someone, something.

The inspiration and desire to be creative like all of those artists and writers I looked up to as a little kid.

Eight—found the URL of my first ever blog and Tumblr

Which shall remain unnamed, but I tracked my own existence back to the early 2010s. I even found some surviving content and took HTML backups before asking for some of it to be removed from different archives for privacy reasons. Unfortunately, the traces from when I was 14–17 gave me nothing but the fact that the URLs existed at one point in time…

So, if you ever want to start anew and shoot your blog—young writers, listen to me now—before wiping it from existence, please save everything you think a 30-something-year-old you may miss. Believe me, I would love to see what was on there now…

Ninth—being alone.

I had a few days alone at home this week, and I drank wine and binge-watched the Fallout series and wrote a copious amount of poetry and read a lot.

Tenth—Madonna?

Someone—of whom I am a huge fan—listens to Madonna, and I have never been happier in my whole life because I have been a secret fan of Madonna since I was like… nine… lol
