Ten Thing of Thankful #25
I am super grateful to Denise for providing the link-ups and prompt words every week. If you are like me—someone who has a lot on their plate but still needs a creative outlet to function well—the writing prompts are super helpful, as they give you some type of structure or a prompt to write around.
I have not been able to participate in anything besides the Open Link Nights because of the sheer number of responsibilities I have… but my favourite prompts were the Prosery and Poetics ones… Hopefully, I can return there soon. Until then I will read as much as I can and try to stay active in other ways, besides coughing up a poem or two every week.
As I have said in every TToT since I don't know when, I find this small hop so beneficial to one's mentality. Even if, for some unknown reason, we don't have many participants there, especially lately, I do find that the act of writing for it and reading all the others' entries forces you to look at life through a more positive lens… no matter what is going on in it at the moment.
If you are interested in any of the bloghops I have spoken about and this weeks' entries to the TToT you can access them through headings (purple links)
Fourth—Procrastinated the Whole Weekend Before Last
Which made me jump over my own shadow on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it reminded me that I'm actually capable of doing way more under pressure than I give myself credit for.
Do I like the stress of leaving things until the last minute?
No…
And do I now need to deal with a few things that don't have any other deadline than the first exam?
Yes…
But I so needed this time off… and I will be back on track shortly.
Fifth—I Was Alone in Tallinn
My second family went on a road trip. On Monday, my boyfriend was in Tallinn, but on the other days, it was just me and the cat, so I was able to do everything LOUDLY, like watch Echo recordings of our lectures, without worrying about getting on someone's nerves. OH, AAAAND THE CAT SLEPT IN MY BED WITH ME!!!! DOUBLE WIN!
Sixth—Music
This is playing at the moment: ARCHE by DIR EN GREY
Seventh—Having Anxiety
Listen… It is not all bad, and I may tire myself out by wanting to outperform myself all the time, but it also keeps me on track. And when I manage to defend a lab in person !ORALLY! I am probably way happier than would be considered normal.
It has taught me a lot of things about myself, and nothing beats discovering that the world ain't as grim as it is in your own head. Or that you are able to perform way better under pressure than you initially thought.
Eighth—Brother Also Got a Living Arrangement
My brother and I are very similar in the sense that we require a lot of privacy and alone time in our lives. His school being on the other side of Estonia from his home meant he had to stay in a dorm room for a week… and for people like us… it is a NIGHTMARE!
Anyway, our mummy made a deal with one of her childhood friends, and now my brother, too, has a private room to study in peace without thinking about acting normal around strangers or whether he bothers someone by using the restroom/shower in the middle of the night… or by studying late…
Ninth—My Boyfriend
He is so annoying but pushes me to do things I have put off for many years…
So, this time the story goes as follows: I have dreamt about going on a road trip since I was a little kid… Do you wanna know what the dude told me???
UNLESS I TAKE THOSE TWO EXAMS TO GET THE LICENCE… we are not going beyond Germany!
Well… It seems that I may be able to enjoy my passenger princess status until summer, when I have to take the theoretical exam, and then until I get scheduled for the driving exam…
Thankful because he is actually motivating me to do it now that I'm turning 35, if I ever wanna drive to Serbia and other places…
If I could go back in time, I would have done it already 13 years ago… Because I drove daily until the age of 23 with my mummy as my instructor, and I had already finished driving school before that… When I moved out of home, my financial situation was so bad that I could not afford the final exams anymore…
Now I have to take these and probably a few lessons with an instructor in the city where I will take the exam. Also, the traffic laws have changed a bit… So I definitely have to refresh my knowledge, though I took the trial exam, and it turns out I actually remember way more than I thought… The wrong answers were in some specific cases where things have changed…
Tenth—A Few People Have Volunteered to Instruct Me Again
Our car is an automatic, but I'm doing a stick shift licence, and a few people have offered to let me drive with them in their cars (I have to pay for the gas and the instructor fee, of course).
This means it may not get as expensive as I initially thought… because the only places I have driven in the past few years are in the woods and on a fricking field a few times, lol.

I’m so glad that you’re being motivated to do the driving exam. The cat sleeping in your bed with you sounds so cute.
I hope you have a wonderful week! ☺️
in reverse(ish) order:
workaround for anxiety (on test for stick shift)? this one is tricky as the ‘errors’ necessarily encountered when learning/practicing are so…loud! (lol) instead think: when you first learned a musical instrument* it’s 90% muscle memory not the brain.
enjoy the Six Sentence Story as well, in part for a similar reason… the serial stories each of us can begin just to see where it takes us, that and, of course, the Six Sentence Café & Bistro… ’cause primary establishing location? hah! done and done
have a good week!
