This poem was written in five minutes because of the prompt on the dVerse Poets site, Get Out Your Crayons and Come Color with Me!. Unusual as usually one poem takes me at least a week to write/edit but the description for white gave me an idea... Thank you!
Also, be sure to check out the link-up where many poets share their work and if mine is not it... there surely is an author you will like.
Absence of Colour - a quick poem
Most people would think
upon the color black
when describing sadness,
but what if the colour of melancholy
was white—
an absence,
void of feeling,
numbness.
Nothingness can be
as nerve-wracking
as the waiting room
of a doctor's office:
white walls,
fluorescent light,
void of feeling,
absence of colour.
