Six-Sentence Story #15 (Prompt Word: RELAY)

Six-Sentence Story banner featuring a vintage quill and ink bottle above the title on a parchment-style background with the website ofstardustandthebeasts.com.

This week’s prompt word for the six-sentence story in our community of blog hoppers was really fun to work with. Over time, I had several different ideas circling in my head on how to use it and make the story a bit different from what I usually write. I wanted something a bit funny and more cheerful than my usual writing, but also brutal. I ended up rewriting the sentence several times and then built the rest around it, as usual.

Musically, I’ve been listening to various artists with new material out, like Dir en grey and Skynd, for example. I can’t really pick just one song this time, but perhaps β€œTamara Samsonova” by Skynd and, umm, β€œDicard” by Dir en grey are the ones that I have listened to more than once this week.

The weekly writing challenge is hosted byΒ GirlieOnTheEdge,Β and you can find links to other participants’ work through theΒ link-up.

Rules of the hop:

Write 6 sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
The link is live from Wednesday at 6:00 PM until late Saturday night.
Spread the word and support fellow writers!

PROMPT WORD:Β RELAY

Six-Sentence Story - Wrong Answer

Every time I try to communicate with her, my words and actions somehow turn into something I never intended.

The other night, she asked me if I would love her if she were a worm, and after a "HUH?", I said, "No, thank you, I prefer women."

Somehow my "heartless" humour translated into me not loving her, and that I should have just said so instead.

Honestly, if I could, I would much rather communicate in simple binary like a relay from now on.

Would you love me if I were a worm?

Perhaps I could invite you to read more of my work:

If you like short stories I have them scooped up into one category (including the six-sentence stories).

Or perhaps I could interest you in poetry and refections or something more personal like the Blog.

I also happen to own an IT studies blog in Estonian and "Chaos in Spring" can be listened to on YouTubeSpotify and other streaming services.

Ten Thing of Thankful #4 – Another Blog Hop

It has been a few weeks since my last Ten Thing of Thankful entry. As some people may already know, I was very busy with university and the exam period, which is why I was absent from this blog-hop for two weeks. Anyway, if you enjoy reading about gratitude and...

Six-Sentence Story #21 (Prompt Word: STEAM)

Another week has gone by and yet again it is time for a new Six-Sentence Story. This week has been very busy, but I can already say that I did pass math... compared to my first test with 9/40 points, I scored 24/30, and the gap between the two was exactly two months....

Six-Sentence Story #20 (Prompt Word: PUZZLE)

Another week has passed again, and it’s time for a new six-sentence story. This week I did something a bit different… Even if, in my case, the first person was solely used because the third person took away from the story, I think it is something a lot of us can...

Ten Thing of Thankful #3 – Another Blog Hop

This week went by so fast I didn’t even think of the ten thing of thankful blog hop while living through it. It felt as if I blinked, and it was already gone. The other hoppers’ posts of the week can be read here. Be sure to check them out at this blog hop is the most...

Six-Sentence Story #18 (Prompt Word: HELP)

Yet another week has passed, and it’s time to share another six-sentence story. However, this week’s prompt word made me derail into a psychologically dark theme. So, a small disclaimer before I let you read: if you are someone who may be triggered by domestic abuse...

Poetry On the margins of the Second Draft #3

The pieces here aren’t really poemsβ€”I’m not doing as much poetry or reflection as I am just… writing. The Second Margins were meant to be more of a messy, experimental corner of my blogβ€”something that might ignite my imagination and lead me back to poetry. However, if...

Ten Thing of Thankful #2 – Another Blog Hop

Another week has passed, and it’s time for my second entry in the Ten Thing of Thankful (TToT) blog hop. It has been an interesting and very tiring week, but now I’ll try to find ten things I was grateful for and also please do check out the others and the hosts at...

Not for nothin’ but I thought that answer was funny.

But then again I’m responsible for the content of the Doctrine blog.

yeah, like ‘that I should have just said so instead is better than ‘I prefer women’ Ain’t no trap there, much…..

    Nice use of prompt word.

    Fun six

      Thank you so much Clark!

Am happy that you call it fun. It’s actually the type of an answer I imagine getting from my other half if I were to ask…

I don’t know though which answer is worse from the perspective of the lady in the six.

A resulute false, 0, off… Whatever you wanna call it…

Or that he prefers women to worms which any sane man would.

Simple is not always better; hope they continued the conversation with a little more depth, yes?

I completely agree. It’s not always better.

While simplicity has its charm and its place then in this context it feels more like, we need the context.

Hopefully in the future they will be able to communicate in a way that benefits their relationship after this little plop.

I do prefer women over worms as well. Good response: “No, thank you, I prefer women.”

Well, of course, I would, if I were also a worm. Crickets when a person asks such a question, is s/he spoiling for a fight?

Yeah, I keep seeing this question pop up on social media a lot that women are asking their spouses that.

Somehow it got into my story this time…

Thank you for commenting 😊 and I would wriggle too if someone asked me that.
