Ooh, it's Sunday, and I just remembered that the week is over and I should probably share my Ten Things of Thankful for the week, which has become kind of a ritual for me to show gratitude for the little things in life. Those little things matter because, all together, they make a big thing—if that makes sense, haha.
Also, reading all the other authors' thankfuls makes the community feel super tight-knit and alive. It's truly a surge of serotonin at the end of the week. Please do check them out at the link-up!
Ten Thing of Thankful #8
First — Six Sentence Story challenges provided by Girlie on the Edge.
I wrote my first Six Sentence Story for the blog hop on May 26, 2022; that was shortly after creating this blog on a whim. Before that, I had a few blogs under my then pen name where I wrote poetry and, umm, fanfiction? Haha, I'd rather not go there, as it's quite embarrassing...
However, I took a huge pause in the middle from blogging and everything because life had become kinda hectic and I had lost my motivation in a lot of things... Anyway, what I wanted to say is that back then I didn't really see or understand the biggest aspect of this blog hop. For me, it was simply a way to keep writing and also practice writing, but now I think the biggest thing I enjoy about it is the community.
Partly, yes, it may be that you link up and read other stories as they read yours—which is essentially what blog hops are for—but personally, I have become so engrossed in some stories that when the author says it's the last one, I cry....
Also, I am having so much fun in the comment sections.
Like,
I am not good at making friends in real life;
I am a serial commenter ONLINE...
I just hope for the best
Second — ties in with the last one: Aurelia.
She is the weird, nervous poet who somehow found herself in the Six Sentence Café, and I seriously like her. She is a part of me when I was younger, only with ten times the absurdity, haha. I absolutely love the character and am already thinking about what I will put her through next.
Anyway, I got lost in the Gatekeeper's older entries on his blog, and a week before that I was stalking Chris's and Mimi's older entries, as well as the comment sections, and I was sitting there thinking, is it weird and stalkerish to leave a comment on a post from xxxx? haha.
Anyway, I am grateful to have been invited to such a cool place, and the comment sections are just sublime; everyone's characters—or the authors themselves—just walk in and say things.
Third — another blog hop: dVerse.
I did write for two hops this week, but for the Open Link Night one I am especially thankful for the comment section, which had me rolling on the floor in tears from laughter, my poor muse got roasted to the core,
he luckily seems to be recovering and has by now gotten his Whiskey too...
The only thing I find absolutely ABYSMAL about the blog hop is this: why are there so few participants? HUH?
I sit down with my coffee in the morning and, before I know it, I have digested around 25–30 poems and my gut is still not full.
Seriously.
Write more,
don't leave me hungry!
Fourth — My Tallinn family.
The people I rent a room from during the school year. We went out, and for a moment I felt like a small kid going out with her parents, only that her parents are cool and allow her to drink, haha.
We went to a summer solstice celebration and then sat in the woods and just chilled. I also saw two foxes, but the second one eluded my camera and ended up as nothing more than a blob of fur, haha (well, that could be read a few ways...).
I will add a few photos at the end.
Fifth — Munnu.
I would rather not translate what munn means, haha, but if you add an -u at the end, it makes almost anything sound cute in Estonian, so... Anyway, Munnu is a cat, and he is a damned rascal.
I open the bedroom door at the Tallinn apartment and walk to the restroom and—pam!—someone's furry paws are on my leg and something is lovingly biting me. He is very playful and asks for food from three different people in the morning.
Needless to say, we all put a little food into his bowl, he eats it all, and then goes to bother the next person...
His meows and the way he sits down at the kitchen floor and stares at you makes it seem like he hasn't been fed in 5 days.
And if you don't give him food, he will pee in your shoe.
Seriously.
So, that's Munnu and the name suits him.
Sixth — Coffee.
Do I need to say anything more? I remember that in one of my sixes I already wrote:
...even if she were six feet under, coffee would raise her from her slumber and bring her to me.
Yup. I am like that. I am easily manipulated by the smell of coffee in the morning...
Seventh — the laptop takes the spot again.
Because now I can write wherever I am, whichever city or corner of the room.
It's the modern writer's equivalent to a pen and a diary.
Eight — something, something
Ninth — Music.
Whaaat? Music at number nine???
ABYSMAL.
And if you haven't noticed yet—abysmal is my new favorite word, right next to revolution.
Tenth — Nothing.
Something you would hear a grumpy teenager say, but...
What is nothing?
It's an absence of something,
and depending on what the something is,
nothing can be good.
Why I think it's not everything...
Because if there is an absence of everything,
there would be absolutely nothing—
a void.
But a void is still something, right?
Or there is something in the void...
There always is something
In my experience...
Okay,
That's enough,
my head aches.
give me coffee.

There's more of my work:
If you like short stories I have them scooped up into one category (including the six-sentence stories).
Or maybe you prefer poetry,, more personal entries can be found at the Blog.
There's also the IT studies blog in Estonian and "Chaos in Spring" on YouTube, Spotify and other streaming services.

I like your reviews for #1, 2, 3. And you write with humor. The beach photos look fun. Nice 10.
Thank you. And hopefully I can make someone laugh 😜.
Good advice: “I just hope for the best”. Munno sounds like a great cat. Aurelia is a great character. I like how you introduced her by having her steal a word game and then bring it back.
Aww, Thank you Frank! And Munnu is a really cool cat.
I enjoy your poems at DVerse as well as your posts here, Reelika! I am sure I would enjoy the Six Sentence but I am trying not to overload myself. I don’t write to every prompt at dVerse because I used to comment on every one’s response religiously and then respond to their comments and that is some 60 responses – so now I am more selective of prompts and those I choose to respond to…
