Six Sentence Story #5(Walk-in to the SSC&B)

And we have a new story for the Six Sentence Story blog hop created by Denise. This week I also wrote two sixes: this one for the collaborative world of the SSC&B (all of the participants are listed at this post on the Wakefield Doctrine) and another one simply because I was in the mood to write... you can read it right here...

As always, there are plenty of other participants in the hop—some truly great authors, by the way—so do check them out at the link-up.

Rules of the hop:Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link is live Wednesday 6:00 PM, ends way late Saturday night.
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers!

PROMPT WORD:  PLAN

the Nervous Poet and the roof at the Six Sentence Café & Bistro

"It might be even more odd if I went home already," Aurelia thought to herself as she felt overwhelmed by the crowd that had gathered around the bar and her newly established fixation with finding the roof.

If one witnessed the sudden movements she made to get up and walk away from the bar, one would think she had a plan to escape or that she suddenly remembered something important.

"Denise said that Hūnga had probably gone to look for Mimi... who is Mimi... another regular... a stranger... maybe an employee," Aurelia's thoughts slipped past her lips, and even she herself was startled by the abruptness of her voice as she marched into the hallway as if she owned the place and knew exactly where to go.

"Ahh… when a dog likes a person, that person can't be mean," Aurelia told herself as the lights flickered exactly three times, sending the Nervous Poet into a state of near collapse from her fear of the dark—well, maybe that's a bit dramatic, but her heart rate certainly did pick up...

And before Aurelia could even gather herself, you could hear her muttering, "What the actual hell..." as she reached into her pocket, and if any of you knew Aurelia, you'd understand why she sounded so damn surprised: the phone she usually kept on silent was now making noise, each louder than the last—ping… Ping… PING!

When she finally managed to dig out the phone, she stared at a message from an unknown sender on the lock screen:

"You are right

but the stairwell is right in front of you;

be careful not to fall,"

and Aurelia felt a cold shiver travel down her spine as yet another thought entered her mindspace as she made it up to the roof before hearing footsteps getting closer:

Are they keeping an eye on me?

Ten Thing of Thankful #9 – Another Blog Hop

This week has been kind of busy with the summer solstice celebrations and my Tallinn mum's birthday on the 24th. Ten Thing of Thankful (TToT) bloghop is my way of reflecting on the week, showing gratitude for the little things that made it better, and reading the...

Six Sentence Story #4(Walk-in to the SSC&B)

This week it was not Aurelia who had gotten herself into a pickle but the author/narrator herself... We had summer solstice and a few birthdays to celebrate this week, and I genuinely left the story until the last minute because I somehow messed up the days. I thought...

Ten Thing of Thankful #8 – Another Blog Hop

Ooh, it's Sunday, and I just remembered that the week is over and I should probably share my Ten Things of Thankful for the week, which has become kind of a ritual for me to show gratitude for the little things in life. Those little things matter because, all...

OLN #410 (dVerse poetry-hop)

I had trouble coming up with a poem for this week's dVerse Poets Open Link Night, so naturally I blamed the muse for the lack of ideas rather than the fact that I stayed up half the night and expected to write something coherent the next morning while running on three...

Six-Sentence Story #23 (Prompt Word: DUST)

This week I wrote two stories for the Six Sentence Story blog hop: one for the SSC&B collaborative world and this one here because I enjoy writing the mini stories with the restraint of six-sentences. It's cool and sometimes a bit... challenging. The host of the...

Six Sentence Story #3 (Walk-in to the SSC&B)

My third walk-in to the wonderful collaborative world of the Six Sentence Café & Bistro. If you are here for the first time, the prompts for our weekly Six Sentence Story entries are provided by Denise, aka Girlie On the Edge , and at the link-up you can find the...

A five minute poem for dVerse #1

This poem was written in five minutes because of the prompt on the dVerse Poets site, Get Out Your Crayons and Come Color with Me!. Unusual as usually one poem takes me at least a week to write/edit but the description for white gave me an idea... Thank you!...

Ten Thing of Thankful #7 – Another Blog Hop

Time for a new Ten Thing of Thankful post. As tomorrow I am going to my boyfriend's friend's graduation in Viljandi, I am posting a day earlier than usual. This week was cool because I finally went out of my apartment, lol. I have been cooped up in here like a proper...

Nicely done, Reelika. Not to intentionally rhyme but… this was fun!
Mysteries abound in the Cafe Sixes.

      Thank you Girlie!
And who knows which mysteries have not yet been discovered!
I can not wait to meet Chris (aka la Raconteuse), the Moxie (I adore pixies and faeries and all that…) and witness the dumbwaiter.
      It has been most fun!

    hats off, yo

very effective story in a most challenging* multi-colab serial Six.

Aurelia is very much Six Sentence Café & Bistro material. damn! surely someone still sells ‘Members Only’ jackets with SSC&B embroidered on the back

Me, I’m jes tryin’ to keep up

PS. Mimi is one of the five Proprietors of the SSC&B and normally can be found sitting the bar at the end where the hallway-that’s-never-reliably-illuminated begins. totally the person to get to know at the Café (agree with you about the judgment of the canine folk). Some say she is traiteuse others say, be careful as power and magic are not necessarily the same. The best description: Lou Caesare treats Mimi with respect (and affection).

    *of only a good sort

It’s seems to me by reading all the other entries in this little world Aurelia has found herself in I think it’s about to get super interesting in the next installments…
