Six Sentence Story #27 | Prompt Word: CURSE
This Six is a bit of an experiment. Those who have followed me for a while may remember my first Sixes, and I wanted to play with my storytelling a bit, to see if I still got it in me to write in this way, lol... or sorta like that... I have been crazy busy these past two days because I had some personal affairs to take care of and was away from my school things for a bit longer than I anticipated... However, in the middle of this chaos, this eccentric little Six came to me partly by itself... partly because I read Misky's entry (including my alter-ego Aurelia) and mostly because Denise offers us a chance every week to write exactly six sentences and include her given prompt word AND! Share it with the community through the link-up—Most Importante—it keeps the whimsy in my life by...
the Six Sentence Café & Bistro #13 | Linked to dVerse OLN
This week's installment in the world of the Six Sentence Café is a bit special. It happens to be the night of the poetry slam, my 100th post on this blog, and the first time in a very long while that I've added a recording to one of my poems (and kept it as natural as possible)... aaaaand all that on the last free week before school! YAY! I wanted to celebrate this tiny milestone with both of the communities that have inspired me to keep writing and sharing my creative work with the world—not only by providing the prompts, but by reading and sharing their own stories and poetry, too... Truly, I am so fricken' grateful... and participating in these managed to pull me out of what one would call a-looming-black-hole-of-depression-brewing. Thank you both for existing, to be part of you...
Ten Thing of Thankful #25 | Procrastinating & Motivation
Ten Thing of Thankful #25 First—Six Sentence Stories I am super grateful to Denise for providing the link-ups and prompt words every week. If you are like me—someone who has a lot on their plate but still needs a creative outlet to function well—the writing prompts are super helpful, as they give you some type of structure or a prompt to write around. Second—dVerse Poets I have not been able to participate in anything besides the Open Link Nights because of the sheer number of responsibilities I have… but my favourite prompts were the Prosery and Poetics ones… Hopefully, I can return there soon. Until then I will read as much as I can and try to stay active in other ways, besides coughing...
dVerse PROSERY #1 | I Know What You Are
And this week I learned that even if I try to write prose, it doesn't resemble conventional prose. Eugh. But the dVerse Prosery prompt gave me an idea, so I just went with the creative flow... thanks dVerse... for giving me the juices on this rainy day. All the other participants' entries can be read at the link-up. The line I had to use in my prose (up to 144 words) was "I am the creature who smells your darkest thoughts" from Jaguar Song. The entire piece can be accessed here. I Know What You Are As you lie there motionless with limbs of stone, praying to the gods that went deaf after you spilled your guts... I am the presence that listens, the one that spits back, the thing that stayed... the vengeful echo of your innermost secrets... Oh yes, my dear, I am the creature who smells your...
Poetry On the margins of the First Draft #19 | Acceptance
Part of my poetry collection, Margins of the First Draft — where I write more poetry inspired by my old poetry. Poetry is weird, this piece I actually read many times and thought that wow, it's like from a 19th century play or something. (Authors Note) Acceptance But mother, Can you not see He makes my heart sing My fingers dancing on the keys of an old Dusty Pianoforte, Out of tune And I keep hitting the wrong notes But my heart hums And perhaps, I am A Jester of love But love I do Poetry on the Margins #19 I do To love is courageous, and to admit it even more so. To feel —there's something humanly imperfect, and yetbeautiful, in it. And to think that we don't choosewho we love —love...
Poetry On the margins of the Second Draft #2 | Fragmented Poetry
I have wanted to do this for a while—try something like hybrid writing and mix poetry with reflections on the process itself. Sometimes it’s strange, as my mind tends to get inspired by lines from my old work, and then I write something new. The last Margins came to life in the same way. I read an old poem and then got the idea to add to it. While the emotions in my poetry may sometimes come from real things in life, I have this unusual process of abstraction and a very overactive imagination, which makes even my reflections a product of it. Fragmentation of the mind This is not poetry—this is the mess around it… a girl trying to write, getting distracted by her own thoughts… staring at the...
Six Sentence Story | Chaos #3 | Life
This week, I also wrote a bit about my life. The prompt word and the weekly Six Sentence Story blog hop are hosted by Denise. You can hop in or read all the other entries through the link-up. Six Sentence Story | Chaos #3 After reading Misky's addition to the world of...
Ten Thing of Thankful #23 | Our Car and Laptops
Ten Thing of Thankful #23 First - Six Sentence Crowd As always, I can't imagine my life without those people whose blogs I have now regularly begun to read and who I interact with on a weekly basis. There are two things that I love about it: It gives you an idea to...
Six Sentence Story #26 | Prompt Word: STOP
I left this week’s entry for the Sixes until the last minute because I have so much going on with my studies and personal life combined that what came out was more of a stream of thoughts laid out like they appear in my drafts, rather than a heavily thought-out story...
Ten Thing of Thankful #22 | Writing Communities and University
Fifth week of school already… and my 22nd entry to one of the coolest blog hops, which is all about sharing the things you are grateful for. Honestly, last week I didn’t do much besides study and write, so this time my TToT feels a bit bland… You can find all the...
the Six Sentence Café & Bistro #15 | the Journal
In my last SSC&B entry, I may have shown just a little too much excitement about Misky stepping into the storyverse of the Six Sentence Café & Bistro… Then, in her Six last week, she picked up the thread and responded in a way that made me go "aaaaaaaaa" in...
