PROSERY #1 (dVerse Prompt)

An aged open-book illustration promoting a dVerse Prosery post, featuring a flying crow, a standing black cat, scattered handwritten quotes, brown ink splatters, and the text "It's Prosery for dVerse" above the website ofstardustandthebeasts.com.

And this week I learned that even if I try to write prose, it doesn't resemble conventional prose. Eugh. But the dVerse Prosery prompt gave me an idea, so I just went with the creative flow... thanks dVerse... for giving me the juices on this rainy day.

All the other participants' entries can be read at the link-up.

The line I had to use in my prose (up to 144 words) was "I am the creature who smells your darkest thoughts" from Jaguar Song. The entire piece can be accessed here.

I know what you are - Prose for dVerse

As you lie there motionless with limbs of stone, praying to the gods that went deaf after you spilled your guts... I am the presence that listens, the one that spits back, the thing that stayed... the vengeful echo of your innermost secrets... Oh yes, my dear, I am the creature who smells your darkest thoughts, and I am not scared to dissect your mind like a damned frog on a table and press the innards against your face: "Look, look what you have done, and repent." And you may drown your sins in the bottle and pop a Sevredol for the heartache, but I know what lies within... Tch. My poor child, I can taste the lust, the greed, and the ever-growing obsession in your cold sweat. Because I do know what you desire, and I know why it drives you fucking mad.

Vintage open book illustration with handwritten poetry, ink splatters, a raven, and a cat beside skulls and a candle, saying thank you for your time.

There's more of my work:

If you like short stories I have them scooped up into one category (including the six-sentence stories).

The Nervous Poet at the SSC&B can be followed here.

There is also poetry.

More personal entries can be found at the Blog.

There's also the IT studies blog in Estonian and "Chaos in Spring" on YouTubeSpotify and other streaming services.

POETICS #2 (dVerse poetry-hop)

An intriguing piece. I’m happy you joined in. The line that jumped out to me was “I am not scared to dissect your mind like a damned frog on a table and press the innards against your face: ”
I wonder what this person desires and is it a creature, god, or their own mind speaking?

      Thank you so much.

As with many pieces, I did have an idea where I wanted it to go… I began by writing about sleep paralysis… but somehow it became this instead… and I am happy that the identity of the creature was ambiguous enough to make you question…

Reelika, I get a grittiness here that is hard to ignore. Nobody ever said getting real was going to be clean. Good writing!

Thank you, and I agree, guilt is the worst, but then again it’s a normal part of human life. We all have some…
