the Six Sentence Café & Bistro #8 | Returning Home

This is my weekly entry for the Six Sentence Story writing prompt hosted by Denise. I also wrote another entry this week that's a little different from this one. You can read all the contributions from the other participating authors at the link-up. the Six Sentence Café & Bistro #8 If there was one thing that our Nervous Poet loved as much as wine and poetry, it was coffee and cake, and just as she was licking her chocolate-stained spoon, her phone lit up with a notification: "I think that's enough of lollygagging for now; you have work to do." Aurelia stared at the very reminder she had set up herself in her time-management app to combat her disruptive procrastination habits—meaning scrolling on social media instead of writing—and let out an audible sigh before telling Denise, "I...

dVerse OLN #4 | Promiscuous Muse

I had trouble coming up with a poem for this week's dVerse Poets Open Link Night, so naturally I blamed the muse for the lack of ideas rather than the fact that I stayed up half the night and expected to write something coherent the next morning while running on three cups of café crème... Anyway, as this is a blog hop, we do have a lot of other talented poets and poetesses at the link-up. Even if my style is not to your liking, please do check them out — you may just find a new author to follow. 🙂 Promiscuous Muse What is a poor poetess to dowhen the muse is a finicky little bitch? I even left crackers and milkon the windowsill, but it seems that after so many yearsof working with me, the dude needs something stronger. Probably went out complainingwith the other muses, over a glass of...

Ten Thing of Thankful #13 | Writing, Poetry & Music

Showing my gratitude weekly has become something of an enjoyable routine for me. The Ten Thing of Thankful blog hop has this mood-lifting effect, both from trying to find your own ten grats' for the list and from reading everyone else's. You can find all the other participants or chose to link-up yourself at the link-up. Ten Thing of Thankful #13 First — I was very productive in the area of writing this week. And editing, too. I am proud of myself because I think I wrote some really cool things this time, and they're all a bit different. I removed one passage from the SSC&B story that described Aurelia's building. I actually liked it, but it slowed the story down a bit... For those...

Short Story | Pianoforte

This is a short story of mine born from a night of listening to Chopin’s Nocturnes on repeat. This one too is actually one of my personal favorites. Short Story | Pianoforte With her fingers lightly gripping the quill, the black ink smeared on her fingers and across the paper, if I may paint her clumsiness and lack of etiquette, she tried to write him another letter. But what was there for her to write about? After all, they had never met. She had seen him once from the crowd as she watched his fingers dance across the keys of a pianoforte while clutching her mother's hand to calm her nerves. Her father told her to behave well, for she could meet a well-dressed lad. But she only had eyes for the old man behind the piano, and it felt as if the musician was laying his fingers across her...

Poetry On the margins of the First Draft #13 | Foolish Girl

Part of my poetry and reflections project, Margins of the First Draft—2-5 percent reality, and the rest is theatrical melodrama. I was a huge fan of William Shakespeare back in the day, and I wanted to incorporate that style into my writing at the time. This is why the whole collection perhaps feels so old and disconnected from how most people write nowadays. But it was part of my evolution as a writer, so the contrast here is actually quite striking when I compare the two poems. (Authors Note) Foolish Girl My foolish heart, Like my mothers favorite vase Plummeting from the shelf I could not reach And beneath my feet A thousand tiny shards With my tears, flowing from my eyes My love, a...

Six Sentence Story #23 | Prompt Word: DUST

This week I wrote two stories for the Six Sentence Story blog hop: one for the SSC&B collaborative world and this one here because I enjoy writing the mini stories with the restraint of six-sentences. It's cool and sometimes a bit... challenging. The host of the...

dVerse POETICS #1 | Absence of Colour

This poem was written in five minutes because of the prompt on the dVerse Poets site, Get Out Your Crayons and Come Color with Me!. Unusual as usually one poem takes me at least a week to write/edit but the description for white gave me an idea... Thank you!...

Ten Thing of Thankful #7 | A Journey Through Estonia

Time for a new Ten Thing of Thankful post. As tomorrow I am going to my boyfriend's friend's graduation in Viljandi, I am posting a day earlier than usual. This week was cool because I finally went out of my apartment, lol. I have been cooped up in here like a proper...
