Six Sentence Story #25 (Prompt Word: PINCH)

Six Sentence Story banner featuring a vintage quill and ink bottle above the title on a parchment-style background with the website ofstardustandthebeasts.com.

For this week's Six Sentence Story—the prompt Denise provides us every week—I wrote a rather sad and dark piece of prose from the point of view of someone forced to care for a loved one struggling with addiction.

As the subject may be distressing for some readers, please read with caution, if themes of addiction or its impact on loved ones may be triggering then perhaps try some of my other writings...

I will add my other entry of this week to the SSC&B world too...

All the participants can be found at the link-up.

Six Sentence Story - It Affects Me Too

You have lain in your bed since last night, your breath reeking of alcohol and the dried tears on your cheeks mimicking regret—the kind that runs circles around me.

I have done what I could by cleaning your bedroom, cooking our dinner, asking you to take a shower, and preparing your once-favorite peppermint tea, but you kept asking for vodka… and when I confessed that I had poured it down the sink, you looked at me as if I had killed Dad.

Did it even once cross your mind how it must have felt for me to come home only to find you passed out on the floor in your own piss again?

Do you even remember how I dragged you to bed as you hit me in the face, telling me to just leave you the fuck alone?

You say what you need is just one more shot to regain your will to live, but I think what you need is one hard fucking pinch on the arse to stop being so goddamned stubborn in your misery—he is gone, but I am here.

Oh, and P. fucking. S.—your loving son is getting the fuck out of here once I turn 18, Mother... or whatever...
