On a Sunday evening I found myself thinking that I had been wanting to return to my blog, and also to writing prompts again. Unfortunately the link-up for the Six-Sentence Story ends on Saturday evening, so I was a little late for the blog hop part. Still, I wrote anyway, as my fingers have been hungering after the keyboard lately.
This time, I actually combined the Sunday's and Thursdays prompts from the GirlieOnTheEdge:
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers.
PROMPT WORD: SWING (Sunday) and FLOAT (Thursday)
Six-Sentence Story - Swing
I used to like the quiet because it gave space for interpretation and daydreams.
I would sit on the sofa in the dim of the evening with my thoughts and my dreams, and not for a moment did I feel the gaping hole of loneliness.
Now I would do anything not to sit in the stillness of my room—loud music, a fan humming in the corner, or a schedule so full it robs me of the time to just exist.
But how long can someone run before they are faced with the inevitable shadow in the mirror, or how long can one hide from heartbreak and the consequences of their actions?
Yes, I once loved the mysteries that lived in the absence of words because I could give them a meaning—a quiet love in the furthermost chamber of my heart; I carried it with pride, nurtured it while romanticizing it in poetry.
Yet now I swing my fists into the abyss of nothing, because I cannot bear what the silence whispers as that dreamy girl and I float apart...
