the Six Sentence Café & Bistro #11 | Is it Tickling or Itching?
As am formatting/editing my this weeks' entry to the sixers pub, I am listening to one of the playlists I created on YouTube Music. Not that it has much to do with the unhinged plot Chris sent me on with her six this week, but I thought I would share it. As always, the weekly prompts are shared by one of the proprietors to the storyline—Denise—and all the other entries can be found at the link-up. Also, it seems that our Nervous Poet is here to cause chaos in the plot again... and again... and again... oops??? the Six Sentence Café & Bistro #11 Aurelia gave her best to stay in the moment as she sat on the barstool, reaching out her hand to greet her new friend—but something felt off—as if a dozen tiny legs were dancing on her back, so she excused herself to the bathroom. "Oh, it's...
dVerse PROSERY #1 | I Know What You Are
And this week I learned that even if I try to write prose, it doesn't resemble conventional prose. Eugh. But the dVerse Prosery prompt gave me an idea, so I just went with the creative flow... thanks dVerse... for giving me the juices on this rainy day. All the other participants' entries can be read at the link-up. The line I had to use in my prose (up to 144 words) was "I am the creature who smells your darkest thoughts" from Jaguar Song. The entire piece can be accessed here. I Know What You Are As you lie there motionless with limbs of stone, praying to the gods that went deaf after you spilled your guts... I am the presence that listens, the one that spits back, the thing that stayed... the vengeful echo of your innermost secrets... Oh yes, my dear, I am the creature who smells your...
Ten Thing of Thankful #15 | Technical Aspects of Writing & Why the New Blog
This week's thankful is a little different and has sections some of you may want to skip... but perhaps, the technical parts... can be helpful for some... Also, reading countless discussions on Threads and X about proving authorship made me wanna write about a few things, and also why I created this blog... and I will try to answer a question I got about it in a way I feel comfortable (10th... question itself I got a few weeks ago and I honestly thought about not answering it at all). You can join the hop or read through what others wrote at the link-up. Ten Thing of Thankful #15 First—had time to read blogs. And leave some comments too; I am still not done snooping around. I usually don't...
Short Story | Stockholm Syndrome
“Stockholm Syndrome” is a short story about a young woman who loves so deeply that she sacrifices her own sense of worth. I began writing these pieces to test my ability to craft stories and plots beyond poetry. While some of them are messier than others, I wanted to keep them on the blog because they show how my writing has changed over time. Writing is a skill like any other—you get better with time and, well… writing. While my newer work is much clearer and uses far fewer words, I feel this older “stories” corner is also a part of me, and removing it would be wrong, even if I can now see many flaws in it. Short Story | Stockholm Syndrome It wasn't that she didn't know that he wasn't good for her or that he would never stay the night. It was that she had hope. She believed that in the...
Poetry On the margins of the First Draft #16 | Mercy
Part of my poetry collection, Margins of the First Draft—while, yes, we have all gone through a heartbreak or two, it’s rarely as theatrical as those 19th-century plays I was a huge fan of back in the day. Life has a tendency to go on. The Victorians were a strange bunch, and I think that during this period I was really drawn to their style of writing. Sometimes, it still shows in my newer work. (Authors Note) Mercy Oh Dear Lord At this state, A knife Straight into this heart of mine Would be an act of mercy Poetry on the Margins #16 Melodrama This poem makes me want to melodramatically lay on my way-too-modern couch, with a bottle of red Zinfandel in one hand and a knife in the other,and...

dVerse OLN #5 | My Ars Poetica

the Six Sentence Café & Bistro #7 | the Nervous Poet Finds a Room
For this week's Six Sentence Story in the SSC&B world, I had way too many thoughts: Is it out of character when the one who's afraid of the dark suddenly gets overly curious about the only light in the hallway—or is it just that her curiosity wins over her fear......
